Product Details

Aumeascon’s AM-GWR Guided Wave Radar (GWR) level transmitters have become the mainstream in industrial level measurement due to their strong anti-interference capability, high accuracy, and wide range of applications. Utilizing the core principle of TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) technology, they employ a probe (rod or cable) to achieve directional signal transmission and reflection. Unaffected by changes in temperature, pressure, dust, or density, they ensure stable measurement under complex operating conditions, making them the ideal choice for harsh industrial environments requiring continuous, precise monitoring and interface detection.

How It Works

The AM-GWR guided wave radar level meter is based on Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technology. It transmits high-frequency microwave pulses along a waveguide rod/cable. When the pulse reaches the medium surface, due to the difference in relative permittivity (εr) between air (εr≈1) and the medium (usually εr>1.5 for liquids), part of the pulse is reflected. The electronic unit records the time difference (Δt) between pulse transmission and reception, and calculates the liquid level height using the formula:

L = (C × Δt) / (2 × εr^0.5)

(where C is the speed of light, and εr is the relative permittivity of the medium).

Note: The measurement is not affected by medium density, temperature, or pressure, only requiring stable permittivity of the medium.

Key Advantages

Compared with traditional level meters (e.g., ultrasonic, float), guided wave radar level meters have distinct advantages:

  • Immunity to Environmental Interference:

Microwave signals propagate along the waveguide rod/cable, unaffected by dust, steam, foam, or stirring. Suitable for complex working conditions.

  • High Measurement Accuracy

Accuracy up to ±1mm with high resolution, ideal for processes requiring strict level control (e.g., chemical reactors, food storage tanks).

  • Wide Range Coverage

Broad measuring range (typically 0.1m~30m), applicable to liquids, solid particles (e.g., coal powder, grains), and interfaces (e.g., oil-water separation).

  • Flexible Installation

Supports top or side mounting; customizable length of waveguide rods/cables for various container shapes (vertical tanks, horizontal tanks, spherical tanks).

  • Low Maintenance Cost

No moving mechanical parts, minimal wear, long service life; daily maintenance only requires periodic probe cleaning.

  • Strong Adaptability

Capable of measuring high-temperature (up to 400℃), high-pressure (up to 400bar), and corrosive media (with corrosion-resistant probes).
