Open Channel and Outfall Discharge

Discharge and outfall flow for permit reporting, including channels that were never built to a standard drawing.

Category
Open Channel & Discharge
Standard lead time
7 working days; a custom bracket for a non-standard channel adds 5 working days.
Package
2 recommended instruments

The problem at this measuring point

The channel has no flume, the lining is uneven, and the level is affected by downstream backwater. A meter installed without checking the hydraulics reports a number that looks plausible and is wrong by 30%, which is only discovered during an inspection.

How we choose the principle

If the process is Use this principle
Standard flume or weir installed and in good condition Ultrasonic level meter with the standard head-flow equation
Non-standard channel, site has its own rating table Level meter with a user-entered head-flow table
Wide channel, uneven velocity profile, silt Radar velocity-area meter, surface velocity plus level
Backwater or submerged flow conditions Two-point level measurement upstream and downstream of the structure

Scope of supply

Aumeascon supplies the level or velocity-area instrument and the mounting structure above the channel. The site confirms the flume or weir dimensions and provides the power and signal cabling. Construction of the structure itself is not included.
