Municipal Wastewater Inlet Flow Measurement

Inlet and outlet flow in raw sewage, where solids, gas entrainment and short straight runs defeat clean-liquid meters.

The problem at this measuring point

Raw sewage carries rags and grit, and the flow is often partially full with entrained gas. A meter that needs a full pipe and a long straight run either reads low or stops reading altogether, and the plant only discovers it when the monthly report does not reconcile.

How we choose the principle

If the process is Use this principle
Full pipe, conductive liquid, straight run available Electromagnetic flow meter with a grounding ring
Retrofit on an existing metal pipe, no shutdown allowed Clamp-on ultrasonic, verified against a portable meter
Open channel with an existing flume or weir Ultrasonic level over the structure, with the site's head-flow table
Solids and gas, no structure and no straight run Doppler or radar velocity-area measurement

Scope of supply

Aumeascon supplies the meter, the sensor cable and the installation bracket. The site provides the power supply, the pipe or channel preparation, and the 4-20 mA or Modbus connection to the plant SCADA. Civil works such as a flume or a weir are not part of the supply.

The inlet channel sets the flow number the whole plant reports on. Raw sewage carries rags, grit and gas, and there is rarely a straight run long enough for a conventional meter.
